Diffusers and diffuser blends are among our favorite things to talk about around the Sha-Faun offices. Diffusing essential oils is easy enough for beginners and has many incredible benefits.
Diffusers come in all shapes in sizes, from jewelry diffusers to car diffusers and home diffusers—there is a choice for everyone. Aromatherapy goes back thousands of years. It's a practice steeped in tradition and backed by research. Above all, what we love most about diffusing essential oils is how easy it is to get started. So, without further ado, here is your ShaFaun Enterprises guide to creating your own diffuser blends. Let's make it easy for you. To start, pick out your favorite diffuser. Once you have your diffuser set up (using distilled water, hopefully), it's as easy as setting a few bottles of your favorite essential oils next to your diffuser. You can match your oils to your moods, the season, or even your favorite foods. There are so many oils to choose from, so we will start with just a few categories. The key to diffusing oils is balancing the oils to create a harmony of aromas. Some oils are base notes, middle notes, and top notes. An easy recipe is to choose one oil from each category. Base Notes: Base notes add depth and richness to your blends. This scent fades last.
Middle Notes: Middle notes are the heart note or perfume notes since they don't evaporate very quickly. Middle notes stick around in your nose a little longer than top notes.
Top Notes: Top notes are your first impression or what you smell first when you breathe in. Top notes are the first thing your senses detect, but the aroma of a top note fades rather quickly. Citruses are the most common top-note oils.
After learning more about oils, you can start to balance oils based on other categories such as earthy oils, fruit/citrus oils, florals, spicy oils, minty oils, woodsy oils, and so on. Stick with 3-5 oils per blend and simply count your drops as you add them to your diffuser. There's no pre-blending necessary when it comes to diffusing oils. Most Young Living essential oil diffusers recommend 5-25 drops of essential oils. The more drops you use, the more potent the aroma at first. But the longer the scent lasts in your room as well. Let's go with 15 to start. You could go with an even number of drops across the board, such as 5x5x5. Or you could balance them based on their category: 6 top notes, five middle notes, and four base notes. No matter your goals with adding essential oils to your life— diffusing essential oils is a great place to start. Your home will smell amazing, and your mental health will get a boost! We're excited to be your guide on your Young Living essential oil journey! Get started today!
